PAUL WOOD RELEASES "PIRATE
RADIO" CD
Featuring "Black Dog"
Single, Little Feat Drummer, Premier Recordings
of Steve Gaines' Originals
MEMPHIS
- Blues/Rock recording artist Paul Wood has released
"Pirate Radio", his much-anticipated
third solo album on the Lucy Records Indie label.
The new CD was initially introduced to west coast
music fans in June during the first leg of the
"Pirate Radio Tour," which included
Wood's fifth performance at the legendary Monterey
Bay Blues Festival.
The 11-track "Pirate Radio"
spotlights Wood's versatile song writing abilities,
guitar prowess and vocals. In addition to the
designated hit single, "Black Dog",
the album features Wood's stylizations of two
previously unrecorded original works of the late
Steve Gaines (Lynyrd Skynyrd).
Recorded in Memphis at Sounds
Unreel Studio, "Pirate Radio" was produced
by Memphis guitar master Jack Holder, heralded
for his production of Wood's critically acclaimed
2001 release, "Blues Is My Business".
Headlining the roster of professional musicians
backing Wood is Little Feat founding member, Ritchie
Hayward, on drums. Memphis players round out the
band with internationally renowned session bass
guitarist Dave Smith, Al Gamble (Gamble Brothers
Band) on keyboards and background vocals by Reba
Russell (Reba Russell Band) and producer Holder.
Both airplay and sales are
reporting strong in the U.S. and Europe. "Pirate
Radio" is available online at www.paul-wood.com,
Tower Records on the U.S. west coast and local
music stores nationwide.
